A year ago, UCG Musician asked "I can't figure out a script to edit system margins so that the distance between systems is set to a given number (such as .75 inch).  I can get a script to set the top margin & the bottom margin but not the distance between systems.  Maybe it's just that I haven't hit upon the correct syntax yet?"

Nobody responded to this question. I found it because I have exactly the same question. I've looked through all the sample scripts, the manual, the Finalescript command reference, etc., but find no reference to this setting. I need to reset page margins, system margins, and distance between systems for some 60 pieces of music. All of the margin commands work great, but so far I haven't been able to guess the right words (if they exist) for distance between systems.

UCG Musician, if you are still out there, did you ever find the answer to this? I can write to WinSupport, but I always like to see if other users have this information first.

Bill,

I never got an answer to the problem & it seems Finalescript support & help from other Forum users is waning.  FS has great potential but Make Music either does not recognize it or is no longer working with its developer (Robert Piechaud) to expand its capabilities.  What a shame.  Those of us who use it for repetitive tasks recognize its power but those who created it & offer it have apparently switched to other priorities like human playback.  Good luck with your work.

Just a coda :-) to this thread: in the hope that I was just missing something or that some bit of documentation was missing, I called support yesterday to ask if there weren't some way to include distance between systems in a script. The person I talked to kept telling me that to do that, I would have to write a script. I told him that this was exactly what I wanted to do, but how do I write the script, i.e., are there Finalescript commands to let me do this? He said that only the commands in the scripts I see can be used. So, I said, I can't do this? The answer apparently was, only if I write a script....

I wouldn't want to misrepresent what the person said, but I think this is pretty accurate; he kept coming back to my needing to write a script for this. If he meant I needed to alter the plug-in as written to add new commands to it, or if he meant I'd need to write my own plug-in, it isn't what he said. I think it was a frustrating conversation for both of us.

Anyway, I'd like to add my voice to any others out there who would like to see this marvelous tool developed. If there are few people using it now, it may only be because it is incomplete.

One question?  Was his name Mat? If so call again and again until you get someone else.  Mat know his software, but gets a little annoyed when he has to explain something more than once.  He is very knowledgable, but not very user friendly.
