When or how can SmartMusic be used with percussionists?  I would figure that a MIDI percussion pad would be an easy thing for the computer to interpret when it came to rhythm accuracy.  I would really like my percussion students to benefit from SmartMusic's technology.  Any ideas?

First things first, send a feature request to customer support. winsupport@smartmusic.com or macsupport@smartmusic.com

Secondly, there might be ways to make use of the technology in its current state, depending on the types of MIDI messages those MIDI percussion pads can send. If they could send a note on message for a specific MIDI pitch, you might be able to create files for MIDI keyboard set to a single pitch. You'd create the files in Finale and then export them to SmartMusic.

If you have access to a MIDI percussion pad but don't have Finale, I could help you experiment with this (I have Finale but no percussion pad). Let me know if I can help. You can e-mail me at di_oohay@yahoo.com.
