So I am clear. The newest update for the iPad still doesn't allow students to do assignments made from smp files, is that correct?

Jim,

We're still working on getting Finale-created files to work properly on the iPad for use with assignments, so it's not yet part of the app. It's high on the list! We wanted to get as much out there as we could with school starting. What you'll see with our development efforts going forward is more frequent updates with more modest feature sets. You can keep tabs on www.smartmusic.com/mobile or watch for the little badge on your App Store icon.

(We won't push updates TOO often, though! Don't want to lay waste to everyone's data plans!).

This really stinks. I had all of my students buy the program for their IPADS and now we find out that the IPAD app is so limited.
Is it possible to give a schedule of what updates are planning on coming out when?
Agreed that Finale .SMP needs to be a priority.
How about practice tools? - tuner / metronome?

I was able to import smp files on my iPad with the original version. Since the update, it removed all of my smp files from the library, crashes when I try to add a file, then I have to delete the app and reinstall it in order to work. Is there a way I can get the original version back?
