If the composer says in effect to the performer: "I do not care whether you perform my music or not," we cannot argue the matter. But if he indicates: "I want you to perform and respond to this music," then his fundamental duty is to write his music so that it is accessible to interpretation. When the performer cannot approach the composer's meaning because of capriciously obscure notation, he may in effect say to the composer: "Why should I bother to puzzle out your music?" - Gardner Read

Motet, you inspire me! Never even thought that could be done, but it works like a charm.
N., I am trying to accomplish two things at once here. A good deal of the Finale work I do is "refactoring" existing printed parts (usually from older, public domain works) for the visually impaired (which includes me). I want to remain as close to the original work as is feasible (I do correct and notate obvious mistakes), while "exploding" everything up by a given percentage. For example, what I am working on now is the Tromba I part to Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. My output will turn a 4-page, 9x12 score into a 12-page, 9x12 part. This part contains many 20-plus multi-measure rests (like 23, 33, 43, 64, etc.). During rehearsal, the director will invariably begin in the middle of one of these multi-measure rests, so having the ranges listed is a big aid to the trumpeter. Joe
