Which of these do we think is best? And what are the alternatives?
I think that No. 1 bows too much, and No. 2 bows too little!




Clearly, Finale is trying to avoid the staff lines. Perhaps too much?
On the other hand, I may have been staring at these too long and lost the ability to discern.

You can adjust it in Doc Opt.
Use 0.03 cm as the minimum distance.

Ah, the setting for avoiding staff lines was 2.5pt. I've changed it to 1pt.

I remember some scores from 1990. The tie was almost a horisontal line. It was not so nice....
I think about Finale 2000 or 2001 has improved it.

You can also reduce the depth of curve by moving the end points vertically further from the note heads
