Hello from Australia

I have been a registered user of Finale (serial number MFNA-104479 and have upgraded several times over the past few years, the latest being for the current version (Finale 2005). I have registered this upgrade twice now and tonight when I went to boot it up again, I was asked to register yet again with a warning that I had zero days left to register and would no longer be able to save or print!

I have just realized what has happened - I'm running this program on my Apple Powerbook and have just upgraded to "Tiger" ie MacOS 10.4. I didn't just upgraded, I did an "archive and install" which basically put my then current system aside, installed the new system and copied over my preferences and network settings into the new system. HOWEVER it couldn't have copied over the critical preferences which saved my registration details!!!! I've searched in my Previous Systems folder looking for a preferences file relevant to either Finale or makemusic but without success. So I have to re-register my copy. However when I tried to do so I was told that I'd done it the maximum times allowed!!!!!

If I am correct, you should consider notifying Mac users who run Finale that upgrading ones OS can create a problem with one's registration and then assist them with a way around it.

Anyway, what am I supposed to do now?

Cheers, Danny

I'm afraid that I can't answer your question, but I would suggest that you edit you rmessage to remove your serial number.

Give them a call tomorrow morning. They'll be able to get the problem resolved. In the future, go ahead and post your Finale questions on the Mac Notation forum. You'll have a better chance of finding helpful advice there (this forum is dedicated to the SmartMusic program).

Windows XP, all updates
