Singing coach is a teaching tool similar to SmartMusic but a different slant and I need all the slants I can get to learn to sing in Key.

It requires that the midi file have a melody line on channel 4 with lyrics. I would like to export a midi file from Finale with lyrics to Singing coach but all I can do is to export the melody line, which helps.

Any experience would help.

This may exceed Finale's capabilities.

Have you tried reassigning the MIDI channels in the Score Manager to put your vocal line on channel 4?

After looking at a demo of Singing Coach, it seems like it is not any different than just p[laying the file in Finale. And, playing the file in Finale will sound better and have many more options.

So, my advice is, for a file that you have created in Finale, since it can't export the MIDI file with lyrics, just play it in Finale and be done with it. In Finale, you can look at any staff as a linked part and have it play just that staff. Or you can mix and match staff playback with solo or mute buttons. Also, the sound in Finale is far superior to Singing Coach.

As far as playing back MIDI files you might already have with embedded lyrics, stick to Singing Coach. But for files you create in Finale, stick to Finale.

If you are trying to create files for somebody else, have them get the free Finale Notepad so they can play your Finale files.
