Has anyone worked out a system for creating the d:r:m: etc notation for tonic sol-fa for singers who cannot read standard notation?

The boffins suggest either using a lyric line, which is obviously one way, although a bit tedious.  I wondered if there is a way of doing it like chords?

Finale has a shape note template that many solfege readers would recognize. Kidnotes which is a set of fonts has note letters in the note and just added d,r, etc for solfege.
