Greetings,

During proofreading, noticed duplicate measure numbers which never appeared previously. In fact I've never seen this problem before. Attached are the first two pages of the document.

When I create a new document and cut/paste the piece into this new document, the duplicate measure numbers are not there. Strongly hoping to avoid creating a new document because scalings and other parameters are not being copied/pasted when I do it.

Grateful for any suggestions. Am using Finale 2014.5

Are you referring to the measure numbers on the first viola part?

If so, just turn them off in the staff attributes.

You could do either of two things

  1. In the staff attributes dialog box for Viola 1, uncheck "Measure numbers" in Items to Display.
  2. In the Measure Number Region defined for the document, you could check "Exclude other staves".
I may be missing something.  It seems you want measure numbers to show at the beginning of each system, but only on the top staff.  Is this correct?

Thank you for the quick replies. Problem fixed.

Bill Stevens—Thank you, yes that worked, unchecking "display measure numbers" for vla. 2
Charles Lawrence—Exactly, would like measure numbers to appear only on top of the staff.

I can't imagine how the box for displaying measure numbers got checked off for the viola 1 in the first place—I never accessed the Staff Attributes page at all for this piece.

Thanks gentlemen.

There's a preferences setting for Instrument Family Measure numbers, etc. Possibly that setting interfered.
