I have recently upgraded from Finale 2008 to 2009. I still have a midi-in latency problem. I've tried 2 different single in-out (1x1) usb midi-in cables (uno and e-mu). I'm using a Powerwave external USB sound card connected to Boston Acoustics powered speakers. So there are 2 USB connections attached to the PC, one for USB sound card and the other for midi-in from dummy keyboard. Ive tried connecting the usb midi-in to the soundcard but no improvement.

Even when I play on a new opened default document with midi-through selected there is a slight delay in sound from the speakers.
This causes a problem using hyperscribe with the built-in midi click. The transcription is also a semiquaver earlier than the beat.

Strangely I don't have this problem using Finale 2003 (which I still have installed), so what can I do to adjust the latency or fix the delay and innacurate transcription? I don't want to use a pci midi-cable or even revert to onboard audio out as it has inferior sound (currently disabled) although the pci midi should have zero latency. I read in the forum that the problem may be caused by Finale 08 and 09's midi-through function which is using too much resource - not sure about this but 2003 has no problem.

I also see that the latency for midi-in is stuck at 125 in the midi setup/advanced tab. I change it but when I reopen the dialog box it's back at 125. Very odd! - Any help most welcome.

Replying to my own question:
Yes, when I disable midi-through and use Hyperscribe with just the clicking beats, the notation is mostly accurate.
So I am to assume that it's midi-through which causes a slight playback delay or extra resources used in playback.

Solved the problem of how to change the latency. Foolishly I was forgetting to click OK and was just closing the dialog box.
