Hello,
I have an Ipad, and I'm using smartmusic during my teaching (I'm a percussion teacher in France)
I'm very happy with smartmusic but I do have a problem with bluetooth connection, let me explain it and hopefully there will be a solution.

-I can connect a bluetooth headphone, or a bluetooth hi fi adapter to my Ipad air 2,
the sounds is transmitted via bluetooth : it works.
-it works fine with garaband, avid scorch, novation launchpad but not with smartmusic...
with smartmusic the sound goes out from the ipad speaker, not the bluetooth anymore, but the ipad is still connected in bluetooth :
if I change app (let's say I go back to garageband, the sounds goes out again via bluetooth again)

Of course, you can easily understand that it is a problem with percussion instruments like snare drum or timpany to rely on the speaker of the ipad,
and as the bluetooth connection works, I don't want to use a connection jack.

Does anybody have a solution for the bluetooth ?

Thanks !

Hi Stéphane,

Due to the latency inherent to any wireless device, bluetooth is not currently supported on the SmartMusic iPad app. Even though the latency may be rather minimal with most bluetooth devices, since a student's grade is dependent on the accuracy of the playback, the app is designed to work with either the built in speaker, or as I would highly recommend, wired headphones.

Hello Jon,

Thank you for your quick answer.
I haven't notice latency over bluetooth, but I understand your point.
I'd say it would be great to have the choice to be able to use wireless headphones and hifi adapter

It is very annoying, this fact of bluetooth not currently supported on the SmartMusic App. There is no more latency, yet, with Bluetooth 4.2 Smart. And we all have now Bluetooth Speaker, like Bose SoundLink. So, in 2016, to be forced to use a jack cable is almost incomprehensible. It's too short and very uncomfortable.
I hope your are going to improve this App, just for the pleasure to go on with this App.
Otherwise, like many others, I will have to find another and more modern way to to have an accompaniment of musical instruments for my professional flute practice.
Best regards

Etienne
