I recently opened a large (500k) file and got the message that it was corrupt and then a separate message about a "ctree" error. Thanks to searching on this forum, I was able to figure out that it was probably due to the 1500 or so files cluttering up my TEMP folder. After deleting them, this problem went away, and thanks to Finale's auto backup I only lost a few minutes' worth of work.
The reason I am posting this is to warn other users about the danger of telling Finale to allow "undo past save." When I looked at my TEMP folder I saw that by far the majority of files in there were Finale-created temp files that had not been deleted because I had checked the "undo past save" option. Apparently they just continue to build up in there without limit. So I have unchecked that option to avoid this problem in the future.

I use Undo Past Save all the time, and never have left over temp files. The temp file issue was discussed recently, and a Coda engineer even asked everyone for additional data. Only one person responded (publicly).
Although the left-over temp file problem appears to be a problem for some unknown (probably small) percentage of users, I doubt it has anything to do with Undo Past Save.

Well, you may be right. I experimented further and found that NOW Finale is indeed deleting all the temp files when I quit the program, whether or not I have chosen "undo past save". So I have no idea what was going on before. My temp folder had over a thousand Finale temp files, including ones right up to when my current project got corrupted. I had quit Finale several times trying to figure out how to save my project, but that apparently did not delete the temp files for some reason. I can't see what I changed other than just deleting all those temp files manually and changing the "undo past save" choice.

I have found Finale's handling of temp files to be "reliably unreliable." Sometimes it cleans everything up properly, sometimes not. I haven't had the time or inclination to try to figure out a pattern, but would suggest that you continue to check your temp folder from time to time.
