The ability to import HP Preferences seems to have been removed. Has anyone found a solution for this?

please tell me that this isn't true. if it is, the Finale 2014 is off the table for me, since I rely heavily on XSample Chamber Ensemble, which requires the import of HP preferences.

Finale (started with ver. 3.0) 2010, 2011, 2012b installed
Win XP
basically ALL Garritan sounds, plus XSample Chamber Ensemble.

We'll be able to bring in Preferences attached to an older file, but not sure what new users are supposed to do...

Odd move indeed to remove this functionality. Starting with a virgin 2014 file, only solution is to type them in one by one... No new functionality in HP (possibly some additional new bugs... verfication pending) but it's a little easier to edit as the dialog is wider. Save & Close button is replaced by a button called APPLY. Click it often!

The Custom Text bug has been fixed, which is very good. The VSL export audio bug has been fixed too (I see you're a VSL user)

World is pretty strange, because I never had the custom text bug, but it took me a few weeks of hair pulling to figure out how to use these correctly... so maybe a fix in this area will cheer me up after all :)

and I didn't have any problems exporting audio in 2012c either, except while I had an M-Audio card installed... Oh well...

They still come along with a file. You can open a file, and should be able to select them then from HP Prefs dropdown in Preferences.

With the import button gone, there's not a way to navigate to the .dat file. Or is that different now (the xml file?)? It says one should be able to use a prreference from another file. How? Does that file need to be in the same diredctory or folder? Does the XML hold that info? If so, how does the XML file get the info?

You can customize HP preferences, save the changes as a new set, and that will be available in all files.

If you open a file that has customized HP Preferences, you can go into Preferences > Human Playback > and uncheck "Attach to" and it will be added as well to the Human Playback Preferences dropdown.

Yes, but what about people that don't have old files? What was the point of removing this functionality?

Third party libraries who supply HP preferences expect people to be able to import them.

MM confirmed bug: in Dynamics/Volume CC11+Vel and CC7+Vel are mixed up. CC7+Vel will send CC11+Vel and vice versa.

I wonder if CC1 still follows CC11 values?

CC11 is still influenced by CC1, yes. Have to use another CC#....

> CC11+Vel and CC7+Vel are mixed up

I'm not finding this to be the case, at least when using CC11+Vel as Action 3.

within Playing Techniques it is OK. It's mixed up under DYNAMICS/VOLUME (dynamic approach for sustaining instruments)

Editing Playing Techniques in 2012 was sometimes volatile, new values wouldn't stick (revert back to previous) until Save & Close was clicked, and the dialog reopened. This annoyance seems much worse in 2014... I just had to edit a files HP Prefs in 2012 and reimport it to 2014....
