I just chanced upon a solution/workaround to a bug:
Occasionally, when using the selection tool to select an expression, it simply won't select!
The solution I have found by accident is to drag (scroll) the music slightly in any direction. Then the item once again becomes selectable. Simply redrawing the screen doesn't help.
Just thought I'd share this with the forum. I recall that others were experiencing this intermittent unselectability.

The screen flipping here and there bothers me more.
