sad

Is there anyway to change instruments on accompaniments? In our Suzuki program our kids are used to the live piano accompaniments for practice, when they hear all the synthesized instruments on Smart Music they really get messed up. I would assume that the Smart Music data is saved in a MIDI format and that switching to a Grand Piano Instrument would not be that difficult to do.

Or is there another program that the Smart Music data can be transferred to to accomplish this?

Thanks.

I'm afraid there really isn't any good way to do this. You would have to edit the SmartMusic soundfonts themselves. While the SmartMusic files do use MIDI, it's not in an editable format (this is to protect the publishers - if the the MIDI data could be accessed, then their music could be opened in any of a number of MIDI programs. There would then be a way to obtain the sheetmusic without purchasing it).

If you have the piano accompaniments, you could enter them into Finale and save them as SmartMusic accompaniments.

Editing soundfonts is more complicated these days, since you almost have to use Vienna SoundFont Studio, and that requires a SoundBlaster Live or Audigy sound card.
