Is this because of the 25.2 update or what? Yesterday I couldn't enter diacriticals into a score, today I can't enter any expression whatsoever. Clicking in the score will draw some random expression without ever showing me the dialog where I can choose what expression I would like to enter into the score. In one document it's rehearsal marks, in another Finale insists on 'bisbigliando'.
Rebooting Finale has no effect.
Rebooting the computer at least did the trick. Am I really supposed to reboot the computer every second launch of Finale?

This is the "Virtual Stuck Key Syndrome" again. Yes, rebooting the computer usually is your only recourse. You had this happen just recently. Is it the same file, by chance? How often has this happened within the past few weeks?

As for my personal experience, this only happens once or twice a year. Hopefully you'll be rid of the problem for a long stretch.

What is this "Virtual Stuck Key Syndrome"? Why does it only affect Finale? How can it lead to different results in different documents (rehearsal marks in one and 'bisbigliando' in the other)?
Googling "Stuck Key Syndrome" typically points towards Leopard and MacBooks. I use neither. Reported is continuous beeping, there is none in my case.

This happened today in a document that I only started today. Last time was well over two weeks ago and didn't allow me to draw any smart shapes but the never used 'palm mute' smart shape. Yesterday Finale wouldn't allow me to type any diacritic. Related problem? I mean, related in any other way than both being specific for Finale?

The same thing happened to me today with 2014.5. Restarting my computer fixed it. Never encountered this before.

FWIW, I can clear it up by logging out of my user account, and back in. It's faster than restarting the computer.

This has been an issue since (at least) 2012. No one has been able to find the "trigger." And what's more, it seems to be different keys for different users, although I think it stays consistent as to which key it is. At least, it's always the same one for me.
