I'm a bit embarrassed to ask this question as I've been a Finale use from the beginning (about 20 years now), but it's something that has always bothered me. Is there a better way to enter ties for chords in Speedy?
My process is to enter the chord (talking notes here, not chord symbols) by holding down the desired notes on my MIDI keyboard and pressing the numeric keypad number that corresponds to the rhythmic value. I then hit the "=" key to insert the ties, but here is where the problem is. It seems like about half the time the curser is on the pitch of one of the notes in the chord, which results in only having a tie on that one note. That makes me have to hit the "=" key again, up or down arrow to an empty line, and then hit the "=" again to finally get the desired ties on all notes.
It seems to me that it would be great to have a preference where hitting the "=" key would default to ties on all notes, as personally I almost always want that result. There could then be some kind of command that would remove any unwanted ties if needed.
Have I missed something - is there already some kind of preference that does this? Or does someone have a more efficient way?

| Posted By : michelp - 2/28/2008 9:32 AM | In Speedy, simply type = while the cursor is above or under the chord. Thus avoid the notes of the chord, because if you type = with the cursor on a specific note of the chord, the tie will be created/removed just for that note.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I know that you need to avoid the notes of the chord, which is what my gripe is about. It's one more thing to slow you down when you're trying to enter things quickly as it forces you to look and see where your cursor is. What I'd love to have/find is some kind of option to default to not having to worry about where your cursor is.
