Hi!

I'm attempting to create a "Clear Score" script to run on a score I just finished to clear it, reset it to 0 so to speak, so that I can begin afresh on a new song.

  1. I want to reset all barlines to 'normal' barlines, but do not find any obvious commands that does this? Ideas?
  2. I also would want the script to set the Time Signature to 4/4, but have the same problem here
  3. I would like the script to uncheck "Break a Multimeasure Rest" in Measure Attributes, but can't get the script to reach that button. Command ideas?

I don't find a way to adress contextual menues. If I could find a way to make the script adress those menus the issue with Time Sgn:s & barlines would be solved.

Here's my "Clear Score" script so far:

Select All

show all layers

Clear All Items

transpose to C major

unlock systems

menu item "File Maintenance"

button "OK"

button "OK"

button "OK"

button "OK"

button "OK"

button "OK"

button "OK"

button "OK"

button "OK"

button "OK"

page view

fit in window

To start fresh I prefer to have a saved "template" document, one already set how I want it. Why go trough deleting a full score and have who knows what residual stuff affecting my work down the road?

That was not the question, but I understand your thought:

The template-file is a constant polish, and the best way to make every little improvement (staff expressions, smart shapes, articulations edits, you name it) made along the way is to continue with your very last file. I'd guess many power users working in commercial music under tight deadlines go along in this manner. But you're right, a few weird things stumbles along, but not to the extent that it is taking a few seconds handling them than spending hours (time I don't have) on polishing a "blank" template you'd still have to edit for the specific project at hand. No project is like the other, so starting over from a blank template for every cue I'm orchestrating is not an option.

All the best!
