Does anyone know how to print the word "draft" in a diagonal on the opening pages of a choral piece?. I need to protect the copyright of the owner of the words. I would like to send the piece to several organizations. Publishers have a way of placing this diagonal on the pages of their choral music. I don't know how to do this. I hope someone can help me.

This has come up frequently in this forum. Print to pdf then use a program like Adobe to put the word on the page.

The usual way is to add a "watermark" to a PDF. Some printer drivers let you add a watermark when you print: you may be able to use this on the way to making a PDF. Alternatively, you do it in the PDF after creation using Adobe Acrobat or other PDF editing program.

You can also convert the PDF pages into bitmap images, which makes it more difficult for computers to scan.

Of course, adding "Draft" does not provide any protection for the copyright in the lyrics. You should credit the author, with a © statement. Any unauthorized copies will remain ... well, unauthorized.

Thanks you so much for all your good suggestions on how to put "Draft" on my copies of my choral music. I discovered also that I can just go and get a rubber stamp and use that. This is a great forum. I am very grateful.
