Posted By : jantho1 - 3/28/2016 12:09 PM | I mean...when I click any field, it crashes. When I switch from Speedy to Simple entry, it crashes. I can look at the screen and it crashes.
I'm running Finale 2014d on Yosemite 10.10.5. It doesn't seem to be an audio/midi related crash like I've had before.
Anybody else having these problems? |

Posted By : Christopher Smith - 3/31/2016 8:20 PM | Upgrading is a good idea, but might not solve the problem. I have 2014.5 and it crashes every time I quit. Until I realised it, I wasn't able to save my preferences! Fortunately, I figured out how to save them manually, THEN hit quit and watch it crash. Christopher Smith

The only crashing I've seen in 2014.5 is in playback. "This is me helping."

I have just found out that the new 2014.5 version of the Auto-Dynamic Placement plug-in has an important bug fix (which the 2014 version of the plug-in does not have). Now - with 2014.5 - the plug-in actually works correctly.

On the machine that crashes (Mac Mini), I only have Jari's JW suite, and all the latest versions. No obsolete ones at all.
Strangely, the machine that DOESN'T crash (laptop) has all the same JW plugins, plus TG Tools and Robert Patterson's plugins, too.
I am strongly suspecting the culprit is some of the extra stuff I have plugged into my Mac Mini; external drives, wireless mouse, scanner, MIDI interface, external speaker. Any of those could be interfering, but I have no time to trouble-shoot right now. Christopher Smith

Any of those could be interfering, but I have no time to trouble-shoot right now. Most of the "showstopper" bugs in Finale over the past few versions have related to particular combinations of hardware: certain types of audio input present (or no audio input); certain types of external equipment (Finale would only output the left channel?; some Yamaha MIDI not working). If you don't have the hardware, you'll never know; but if you do, you'll be calling MM all the silly people. "This is me helping."

Posted By : MikeHalloran - 4/5/2016 12:49 AM | Could it be the lack of an audio input on the Mini? There are old threads on this including a workaround.
