Are Finale 25 files compatible with 2014.5 files?

Yes. (I just tested it to be certain.)


Finale 25.2

GPO5, JaBB3, GIO, COMB2, GWI, GIFF, Steinway Basic.

Features new to v25 don't translate back to 2014, however. One example is dashed slurs. If you don't need them, you're fine. Also, since v25 doesn't have the full sets of some of the most popular plugins, 2014 and 2014.5 will give you more functionality. v25.2 has the new feature of hearing transposed instruments at their sounding pitch. One can use v25.2 for that, then open in 2014.5 for editing with plugins that might be needed.

Also, 25.1 introduced a new document option for Backward Repeat Bracket positioning.

Additionally, 25.2 introduced an option to have Octave transposing instruments display in their written range in Concert pitch view.
