Our school district is adopting 1:1 iPads for students this year, and I would really like to be able to use the SmartMusic app. I create a lot of custom SmartMusic files in Finale which I'm able to open on my computer and display with a projector during lessons. Will SmartMusic be able to open custom SMP files in the near future? I'm also hoping there will be an easy way to transfer these files to the students iPads without needing to sync each one.

I noticed that clicking on a link to a SmartMusic file (such as this)in Safari will open the SmartMusic app but not the display the file. It would be great if clicking a link to a file would download it to the iPad SmartMusic library.

ChicagoMike,

We're hard at work on the next update for the iPad, and SMP files were a bit much to take on with the other work. We know this is an important feature request and are making sure it's appropriately prioritized in our development efforts. Can't say much more, but keep watching for App Store updates - we'll be releasing as frequently as we can!

Thanks,

James Lund

Thanks for the response. I look forward to seeing that feature implemented. My understanding is that you guys are working on adding assignments to the app next. Will assignments linked to custom files be possible, as in the PC version, or will they only work with files already in the SM library.
