Posted By : Lawson D - 8/2/2016 4:11 PM | We’re pleased to announce the release of a brand new help center! This platform includes new ways to discuss both the direction and use of our products:
Feature Requests - Have an idea for a new feature? Share it here and vote for others.
General Discussion - Ask questions to knowledgeable experts and share your expertise with others.
Our Customer Success team will be actively participating in our new help center - We hope to create a more transparent view into product development and foster helpful discussion related to the use of our products.
You’ll notice that there are some key differences between our user Communities and existing forums. Most notably, to attach .musx or other file types to a post you’ll need to create a shareable link using a cloud sharing service such as Dropbox or Google Drive. We look forward to hearing your feedback about our new platform and encourage you to tell us which features you’d like to see! Lawson D. Notation/Garritan Product Specialist MakeMusic, Inc
These on-line forums are intended for the exchange of ideas among the users of MakeMusic products. If you'd like individual help from our Customer Success staff, please contact us here. |

Let's see: No feedback on the blog unless you go to Facebook or Twitter, a new "community" with third party attachments...

Posted By : KennethKen - 8/4/2016 3:43 PM | It just occurred to me that the new Community Help does not separate operating systems. I understand that this is the case for other user boards and some users may like this, however, I think it needs some sort of user-selectable filter so that someone can only see the OS they want. The reasons are as follows.
- I don't know any of the keystrokes or much 3rd party software for a Mac. If someone posts a problem and does explain upfront that they're looking for keystrokes or a 3rd party program for a Mac I'll waste time reading their post before I discover that I can't help them. Before too long I'll just stop reading posts that don't have an explicit subject line since I don't have the time to sift through threads in this way.
- Many posters forget to list their version of Finale or their operating system. If I do post a response it may be a waste of both my time and theirs if they get OS specific details that don't apply to them.
- MM can still have filter-less boards for things like feature requests, engraving practices or general questions (just not for software technical advice). That way general questions can still benefit from input from Windows and Mac users' input on general questions.
- When a user does a "Submit a request" to MM they are asked for OS and version information. MM, you know that having this information is important. Why allow bewildered users the opportunity to not remember to post accordingly and submit your unpaid support techs to the blind assist attempt?

Posted By : Daz - 8/8/2016 12:24 AM | I've just been on and tried to do a couple of things.
1) Edit my profile to suit *my* requirements (ie the information displayed) - I cannot seem to find a way to do so! 2) Added then attempted to edit a post. Adding a post was fine, but editing the post caused the entire post to disappear. I used standard windows editing key shortcuts <shift><ins> and <shift><del> evidently the zendesk platform does not recognise that <shift><del> means "cut to clipboard", instead just treating it as "delete all selected stuff and forget about it"
I tend to try and avoid negativity when commenting on stuff, but I'm really not to keen on this new system. I have to add my voice to the concerns.
Uploading files is essential. They need to be kept with the forum not on a separate service which will be transitory The visibility on the new forum is dreadful. I do wear glasses but have no real issues with most places. The new forum has click 'hotspots' that are difficult to see and find The design and layout of the user profile page is wierd on my browser. (I'm using an older version of firefox, v27). An example is the "Edit Profile" button. In my browser, the button is short, so the word "profile" is truncated to "pro" Again on the same page, the area which show my username and avatar is squashed. (mind you, the avatar is not an issue, as there is no way that I can find to change it!)
Cheers... Daz. :o)

Posted By : Ron. - 8/17/2016 8:25 AM | I will not be migrating to this new help centre. It is clunky, extremely limited in functionality, and will be difficult to use. For example, I frequently use screen shots with labels and arrows to demonstrate how to do certain things. It would take thousands of words to get the same ideas across without images and I don't have that kind of free time. Also, threads will quickly become lost and abandoned.
There are dozens of free forum software packages out there with much more functionality than this one, so I imagine it would not be that difficult to find professional-level ones. Finale 2014.5

Posted By : Michel R. E. - 9/2/2016 2:55 PM | So now if one needs technical support, instead of a MM employee helping you, we will have to rely on waiting for someone to post a response to a forum thread?
That seems like the complete antithesis of "customer support". It's rather a big FU to MM's customers, actually.
Unless you have a direct connection to real customer support somewhere - I can no longer find it on your convoluted website. Finale (started with ver. 3.0) using 2012 (2014 has been shelved for its lack of support for older Garritan libraries) under Windows 8.1 basically ALL Garritan libraries, plus XSample Chamber Ensemble.

Thank-you Mike, I did end up finally finding it, hidden somewhere between phoenix tail feathers and venom of basilisk. It was difficult getting past Professor Snape, but I managed to get my help request in. Posted By : Ebony Ivory - 9/6/2016 6:24 PM | Simply, this forum (until taken down and stripped of content) will always remain the ultimate source of important knowledge and information about Finale and its related products. This forum probably contains MORE knowledge than the entire current MakeMusic programming can muster between them. Delete it or deprecate it at your peril, MakeMusic.
