Hello Mac users. There is a serious problem creating Acrobat (pdf) files from Finale 2002 in Windows XP. I was just wondering if Mac users have encountered any PostScript weirdness with Finale 2002, or is this just a Windows thing? Thanks!

I think it is a Windows thing, since there are no postscript problems with Acrobat and Finale over on this side.

Hi, Anon...

Matthew is right.

All of my PostScript/Acrobat/Finale/EPS/Illustrator/PDF/Printing woes come from the land of Gates. I never have any of these problems in Mac land...

Anon,

No problems with me, either, although I don't work with PDF files much. I have yet to have a problem with EPS files and I use them on an almost daily basis.

Good luck.

I've contacted Adobe and it appears the problem is with Acrobat Reader version 5.0. For some reason it won't read the embedded fonts for note heads (assuming that's the problem being experienced by everyone). Acrobat Reader 5.0.5 DOES read Finale PDF files and the download is free from the Adobe website. Oops! I'm talking about Windows platforms - I don't know whether Macs are in the same boat.

Graham, the problem is with Windows XP. I'm using the full version of Acrobat 5.0.5 and font embedding of Coda's PostScript fonts does not work in XP. If you're using XP and don't have a problem embedding PostScript fonts (not TrueType) please post your steps and settings in detail. Thanks!
