Posted By : Motet - 12/26/2016 1:17 PM | With that option turned off, a grace note can be slashed on an individual basis in Speedy Entry with the backquote ` character. I don't know if Simple entry can do that. I suppose in something like Mozart you may need both varieties. Posted By : Andreo Basisto - 12/26/2016 7:08 PM | Goodness me! I never knew that and have been wondering for years what I would do if I came across a piece with both slashed and unslashed grace notes. Many thanks Motet! Good to know that I've learnt something new in the last week of this Forum..... (By the way, if anyone is wondering where the 'backquote character" is on the computer keyboard, on mine it's at top left, under the Esc key. It's the only key with 3 characters on it and I can't say I've ever used any of them until just now.)

(FWIW on my UK keyboard the grave accent ` is next to the left shift key [which is shorter than on the US keyboard], but there are two keys with three characters in the number row at the top - one with 2, @, € and the other with 3, £, #. The option key will produce all sorts of extra characters with the other keys too, but they are not shown on the keys themselves.) David Ward www.composers-uk.com/davidward

Good to know that I've learnt something new in the last week of this Forum..... Me too. What a wonderful source of unexpected tips this forum has been over the years. Maybe we will be able to manage something similar between us at www.finaleforum.com/. I wonder where the ever-helpful Dr Wiggy might be going? He does already contribute to OCTO's notat.io/, but that is specifically about notation and directly related matters, rather than about Finale and its many hidden abilities (and irritating quirks), as revealed on this forum.
