How do I enter a carriage return in a "replace" script? I have a line of text in a text box in 23 unlinked parts, and I want to add a line of text above the initial line. What's the command and syntax for adding the carriage return?

This Finalescript should do it:

search "Old line of text" replace with "New line of text above<13>Old line of text"

BTW: I could not get this to work in the "Edit -> Text Search and Replace..." dialog. It does not seem to recognize <ASCII> as representing ASCII characters. ASCII character 13 or control-m is the carriage return.

Thanks, Charles. I tried <13>, but it didn't work. Maybe I had the syntax wrong. I'll try it again.

^l starts a new line.

So you could script this:

search text block "This is old text." and replace with "New Text.^lThis is old text."

The output should look like this:

New Text.
This is old text.

<13> refers to an ascii character that typically is not mapped in a font. But it is the character designated as a carriage return. It should work too.
