It seems that Sierra has an updated version of Java that 2104.5 doesn't recognize. Anyone found a work around?

You will need to re-install them if you need them. You can still install Apple's Java 6 for use in Sierra. Needed for some Adobe Creative Suite apps, as well as Finale. (Fin 25 removes the Java dependency altogether, I think.)

Any other versions of Java you might have are neither needed for nor compatible with Finale. Finale v.25, 2012 MacMini; 2012 MacBook Pro (10.11.6) Edirol FA-66; Roland A-49, HP Laserjet 5200 DTN Ancient Groove Music www.ancientgroove.co.uk |

When Oracle bought SUN, Apple was no longer allowed to distribute Java with the OS beginning with Mavericks. You have to get Java 8 from Oracle but it is 64bit only. Java 6 supports 32bit apps such as Finale 2014.5 and earlier. Posted By : Michael Good - 10/31/2016 1:37 PM | MusicXML still uses Java in Finale v25. But it's a 64-bit version of Java that is bundled with the MusicXML functionality, just like we have done on Windows for many years. So there is no more need for Apple Java 6 with Finale v25. Just one of the many benefits of Finale now being 64-bit! Michael Good VP of MusicXML Technologies MakeMusic, Inc. |
