I also don't see a way to import into the app via iTunes other SmartMusic accompaniments available from outside of the program.
If I am just missing how to do this, help is appreciated.

Some of our solo content that doesn't show music on-screen is not yet included in the student iPad SmartMusic app. It's pretty high on our list to get resolved, so watch for updates from the App Store as we roll out features and fixes in the weeks and months to come.
