Go to the Score Manager and enter an abbreviated staff name for those staves which are missing the names after page 1.

Go to the score manager (assuming you are using a fairly recent version of Finale--and in future please give us that information). Make sure that the staff has an abbreviation name--as that is what is used on pages after the first one.

unbelievable
you are good both of you

i don't know why finale forces us to open the score manager to do that
they could have been more simple and allowed us to do it in the drop down menu when clicking on the box near the name (edit staff attributes , edit full staff name etc..)

anyway thank you guy ; finale forum the best forum ever

You can do it if you are on the second page. The drop down menu lets you edit the abbreviated staff name.

You can do it your way as well. See attachment. But why is opening the Score Manager such a problem? It's where all the instrument-related items are.

PS. What is it about this thread? While I am uploading pictures someone else posts the same answer.

the position of the abbreviated staff name but not the name itself , or i miss something...

edit ; i missed something , as a matter of fact when you are in the second page you can do it but not in the first page ; weird though..

That's because the full staff name appears on the first page and the abbreviated one on subsequent pages. Or, you can do everything in the score manager.

By the way, if you right-click on the staff handle (not the name handle), you'll get more options, including editing both the full name and the abbreviated name.
