If you haven't already done so, I'd recommend updating to the latest version of SmartMusic, found at www.smartmusic.com/support/downloads/. This tends to resolve the majority of playback issues we see, especially when running on a new operating system like Mavericks. If you still see the same problem after updating, you'll want to submit a case to our technical support team, smartmusic.custhelp.com/app/ask, to help dig a bit deeper into the problem.
