In a piece I did with Finale 2011 I had two triangles in my percission layout, one for up-stems and one for down-stems (different sets of noteheads). In Note Type / Auxilliary there's a Triangle open and a Triangle open (2).

In 2014.5 I'm trying to do a similar thing, but there's no Triangle open (2) and it won't let me have two Triangles. Did I do something to create the Triangle open (2) in 2011 (and thus forgot about it--entirely possible), is Triangle open (2) gone in Finale 2014.5 and I'm out of luck, or is there a new way?

Do you need playback?

P.S.: Here's a demo file that has a layout with 2 open triangles. (2) doesn't play back.

It would be nice, but I essentially use playback for checking and nothing more, so I suppose it could be a gunshot or something else.

I'm not sure what instrument you picked for Triangle open (2).

Any idea why this changed from 2011?

I picked Triangle open (2). In order to have the extra options, uncheck the box to only view instruments available in the current map.

Ah, thanks. In what sense is it "not available"? In 2011, both played back correctly, presumably with the same GM value. So confusing!

Another thing: they moved the notehead font setting from the staff settings page to Documents/fonts. But when I set it to Maestro Percussion there, it still opens Maestro in the percussion layout designer.

Edit: I deleted the percussion staff and then recreated it, and then Maestro Percussion took. Either you can't change it once the instrument is created, or it was some artifact of my converted 2011 file.

There's still an option in Staff Attributes for independent font as before. Did you check that? Also, I guess my demo file still plays back okay as the open (2) uses the same MIDI sound as open. So, if that is okay, then you're going to be fine for playback.

I spent about 2 hours but eventually got everything working. The percussion stuff really is a dog's breakfast.
