I'm having sooo much trouble finding a piece that I need for solo and ensemble.
The bad thing is that the contest is on Feb. 5th! The piece I am looking for is
called Concerto in G by Hoffmeister. I've already looked in the file menu and the
online catalog. Can anyone please help me?freaked

if its not in the catalog, its not out there. what instrument?
about all you can do is enter it into printmusic or finale and save it as a smart music file.

<gets on soapbox> seems like theres a very limited selection of solo accompanyments out there, the product needs work in that area. <exit soapbox>

I play the flute. It really sucks that these people don't bother to put some of
these solos on the catalog. And I'm kinda new to this program so if you don't
mind could you tell me what a soapbox is?

The selection covers a good part of the normal contest literature out there for woodwinds, brass, and vocalists. Strings are what need the most work (and they're doing it, it just takes a long time to enter the repertoire).

Since there are so many songs, there are bound to be some that don't make it into the program. Also, MakeMusic has to contact all the companies that publish the sheetmusic to get permission to include the music in the program, and in some cases the companies don't allow it (even though they get money for it). It's always good to send an e-mail to them when a song you need isn't on the list. They try to prioritize new music based on the number of people that need the music.

I use Finale to enter in music that I don't have and save it as SmartMusic accompaniments.
