I'd better post this before it is too late!

On my setup, if one has something other than 100% set in Finale Preferences>New>New Document Windows>View Percent, when the new window comes up the rulers are all wrong. At 200%, each inch is only .5 inches, at 300%, only .333 inches, 400% .25 inches etc.

In the attached file, the preference was set at 800% and each "inch" in the Finale Default File is only 1/8th of an inch!

Fortunately, this is immediately corrected by zooming to some other percentage.

I noticed this when I first installed Finale 2014, 3 years ago. It persists in 2014.5 and doesn't seem preferences related.

John, your finding that there is a mathematical link to the view percentage is a crafty bit of troubleshooting!

Thanks for responding Zuill and N. I should have mentioned that it is only in Page View that this happens.

N., I dislike messing with the preferences file and am glad that I don't have to! I wonder if this bug is also in Finale 2016? And thank you so much for the compliment; it means a lot.

Hard to believe that these days are coming to an end. Very sad. Perhaps someone will do an OCTO. and create a new forum.

Have you had any experience with that forum? Those of us who have visited it or tried to use it aren't by any means enthusiastic about its design, setup or possibilities, let alone the increasingly hands-off policy of MM regarding their forums. Perhaps you should read the last few posts in this thread:

about the original subject... I'm a great lover of crafty sleuthing but I'm afraid I can't reproduce this. I tried changing my preferences (my default zoom has always been other than 100%) and loading both new and old documents, but all displayed normally. I even tried changing the measurement units but that didn't make any difference. I'm curious if anyone else is able to reproduce John's problem.

Dear Arthur,

Thank you for the reminder.

Dear Mike,

Thank you for your kind invitation. I just joined finaleforum and will start any future threads at that site.

John,

I am on Windows10 with F25.1.  I tried an experiment to test your reported bug.  I see no such problem.  All new default document rulers were correct at whatever percentage I set in Preferences.  Maybe this is a Mac thing.

Same here. Windows doesn't seem to have the problem.

Yes it happens here, but is cured as soon as I go to any other zoom and then back.

Thanks, David. That makes three lucky ones of us.

I notice that you have contributed to Finale Forum and enjoyed your comment about Beethoven and his use of 128th notes and higher. I just made my first post there. It was easy and my signature, avatar and such all worked well. It would seem relatively painless for MM forum users to move to that site without skipping even a 128th-note.

And with Dr. Wiggy, that makes four. Did you report it on this forum? I did do due diligence before I posted and google-searched for it without success. If only they had decided to upgrade this site, particular the search function, instead of creating a different one.
