Posted By : gogreen - 9/25/2016 9:42 AM | I'm reviewing a piece I wrote a long time ago, and I've forgotten which Garritan library I used for instruments I selected in this Aria instance. I need to work backward from the listings in an Aria bank to determine which Garritan library I used and which instrument I chose in each of these channels. Is there a way to do that?
For instance, take bank 4--cymbals. How do I identify the cymbals library I loaded a long time ago? Thanks. Arthur J. Michaels

So click on the slot containing the Cymbals. Ignore the menu if it pops up. Just ensure that the little white rectangle comes up indicating that the slot is selected. On the Right Hand Side of the ARIA window are four tabs. Select the top tab "Info" That should tell you which library the patch is from.

Posted By : Eisengrim - 9/25/2016 3:50 PM | It's entirely possible, I'm missing something, but I think these are the COMB cymbals. COMB and GPO are the only ones that have patches called 'n-cymbals'; and if you look at the attached, the COMB cymbals are mapped to the same keys on the keyboard as the ones in the image you just provided. That's probably a long-winded way of doing things, but... Finale 2014d Garritan Ultimate Collection Xsample Chamber Ensemble Virharmonic Choral Bundle

Posted By : gogreen - 9/25/2016 4:54 PM | Yup, Eisengrim, COMB2 cymbals. Thanks. Still, should the sample library appear in the info window, as Daz suggests? I vaguely recall another thread on this subject, and as I recall, it was deemed something that MM should add to the Aria player. I'm not holding my breath on this--the Aria player user manual is dated 2010. That info tab, for one item, doesn't even appear in the manual. Arthur J. Michaels

Posted By : Daz - 9/25/2016 9:30 PM | Hi Arthur
Unfortunately, I cannot comment on the other Garritan libraries. I own GPO and CoMB, but they are both the Kontaqkt versions.
However, when I select the info tab on either the GIfF library or a 3rd party Piano library, I get a nice graphic showing which library the patch belongs to.
You can also see from the screenshot that Eisengrim posted that his does the same thing. I'm not sure what's going on with your system.
Cheers... Daz. :o)

Posted By : gogreen - 9/26/2016 8:23 AM | Something weird is going on. My Aria players and engines are up to date. When I'm in the standalone Aria x64 player, for some of the ensembles I've saved I get the library source logo in the info window. I must assume that GPO4 is the black info page, while GPO5 says "GPO5." This doesn't happen at all in the 32-bit standalone Aria player, and it doesn't happen at all in the Aria player in Finale. Is this a Garritan setup issue for my installment? Arthur J. Michaels

Posted By : Credo - 9/26/2016 8:42 AM | Nothing is working right for me today since a Windows 10 update that got pushed over the weekend.
My PC grinded and rebooted a dozen times this morning....it finally woke up with half of my audio and MIDI drivers missing, a bunch of cloud services that I'd gone to great trouble to 'get rid of' were back, and Edge is now the default app for everything. Most of my dongle ware is also broken today (Steinberg, iLok, Waves, etc.).
I don't know if you'll be effected by this too, but it's looking like a very bad PC Monday here :(
I've wasted half the morning rebooting in special modes and reinstalling drivers and dongle managers *sigh*. Today my screens like to blink and flash every 10 minutes or so. CPU spikes all over the place for anything 'audio' related.
I've also had a strange problem over the past few days where Virus software has been moving all the samples with *.AUDIO names from Garritan libraries into the quarantine folder! It's been going after VSTsound files (Used for Halion and Groove Agent) as well (anything with encrypted samples in there).
I don't know what's up, but for some reason Windows, and Virus software has been ripping my DAW setups to pieces over the past week. It's also aggressively gone after things like jpeg 2000 textures. I've never seen anything quite like it....so many non-executable files getting tagged as viruses and being moved to Quarantine folders on the system drive :(
Other than seeing all my audio projects and sample libraries get tagged as malware, I'm not showing any other 'malware' with three different scanners....so I'm at a loss as to what's going on with the last Windows 10 update :(Post Edited (Credo) : 9/26/2016 8:52:41 AM (GMT-5) |
Posted By : gogreen - 9/26/2016 9:00 AM | Credo, your problems with the Windows update are like mine that I also experienced over the weekend. It was the update to Version 1607, OS Build 14393.187 (the Windows anniversary edition update). In addition to custom settings, I lost my authorization for Finale 25 on my desktop (but not on my laptop), so MM is getting a phone call from me later this morning to straighten this out. I spent half a day last week reinstalling my customizations on my laptop, and a half-day on Saturday doing the same after my desktop updated. Arthur J. Michaels

Posted By : gogreen - 9/26/2016 11:24 AM | I called MM. MM removed the registration for my desktop PC and while I was on the phone I reregistered Finale 25 on my desktop PC. Took a minute. I was, however, on hold waiting to speak to someone for 25 minutes. I didn't appreciate that.
I'm going to file a support case for the Aria problem. Arthur J. Michaels

Posted By : gogreen - 9/28/2016 1:15 PM | Problem solved (user, ahem, error). To identify the library of an instrument, I'm pressing the info button and then pressing a note on the keyboard, which produces the attached (note the sample address). I was expecting a graphic like the ones Eisengrim posted farther back in this thread. Arthur J. Michaels
