I'm not able to extract parts in this attached file. I just get one extraction that includes all the parts.

Go to Document Menu > Manage Parts and "Generate Parts". That will create all 4 parts which you can then extract.

N. G.,

Did you try it with the file I've uploaded? I just get one part with all four voices.

And I think I should add: The file was originally created in Finale 2012, and is now a .musx in Finale 25. That might have something to do with the problem.

Even if you do not want to use linked parts, you can not avoid generating linked parts, since extracted parts are based on the linked parts.

By The Way:

Are you sure that you do not want to use linked parts?

Linked parts have some advantages over extracted parts:
- You have only one document, containing both the score and the parts.
- Edits/corrections in the score are autimatically updated in the linked parts.

Try what, exactly?

- Extract parts?
In the document you attached, there is only one linked part, with all the four voices.

- Follow N. Grossingink’s instructions?
The instructions give you four linked parts with one voice in each linked part that you can extract.

You didn't generate parts as N suggested. The existing part indeed contains all four voices. Generating and extracting parts works fine for me with 2014.5. Read up on parts in the manual.

Motet,

Hi, thanks.

I don't have 2014. The only version I have is 25. Are you able to extract the parts in v. 25?

Peter,

Thanks! Went to "Document" > "Manage Parts" > "Generate Parts", and that created the four parts from one part.

Maybe that solves the whole issue. I have to take a break now though, so will have to get back later.

I don't have Version 25 but I'd be very surprised if it didn't work. Since you're new to the linked parts concept, I suggest reading up on it.
