So I am notating a song, and I want to tie a eight note onto a dotted half note. I have done this before but the notes were all on the same line.
This time, I am tying a eight note (that is the last note of this line (system) ) onto a dotted half note (which is the first note in the next line (system) ).
I have tried everything but I cannot get the 2 notes to connect. Any suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks

Perhaps it is just not displaying. have you tried updating layout and/or redrawing the screen? (command + u to update and command + d to redraw)

We'd need to see a file to troubleshoot.

A shot in the dark. Are the notes identical ? Ex. : If a B natural follows a Bb, no tie will show at the beginning of the second system.
And both notes should be in the same layer.

Thanks michelp. That's what happened.

Another way is to put both measures on the same line temporarily, form the tie, then split the measures.
