In the 2010 version of SM, there was a "recording options" button in the Practice Tools which allowed for generating a compilation mp3. I would assign my students excerpts from various works and ask them to submit them as a single mp3 file. Very convenient. That option seems to be missing...or is it just hiding somewhere else?

Why not use the newest version and see if that solves the problem?

Using latest 2012c version. I have the same problem as ewedude back in September. I have my students send me their "finished" assignments as .mp3 files. There used to be a send mail function in earlier editions. That appears to be lost. A workaround is to save the recording as an .mp3 file, but save to a folder on your desktop. Then email that file as an attachment from there. If you save it in iTunes you will have to hunt for it through a whole bunch of nested folders in your Music folder.

Hello,

Unfortunately the ability to create a compilation MP3, several Take sessions combined into a single file, is no longer available in SmartMusic. After saving your takes as MP3 files there are several different freeware programs that would allow you to combine these files into one MP3 for your convenience.

Submitting a completed assignment is done using the SmartMusic Gradebook features. Make sure that you are logging into Gradebook and assigning the pieces to your students. Once they complete the assignment they will be able to submit it back to your Gradebook for review. Assigning each excerpt with Gradebook also helps manage the assignments while still allowing you to listen to students' performance.
