Hi all,

I have an 8va------------------------- and I can't work out how to make the dashed line slant upwards to fit the contour of my ascending notes.

I've tried dragging the handles, I've right clicked the handles and tried contextual menus, checked the manual, but can't see the solution.

You can't. What you can do is replace the 8va line with a dotted line smart shape. The file won't play back correctly, although I'm sure there's a workaround to transpose that section of music up an octave.

(the work-around for playback is to place an octava symbol where you want it, and then simply hide it)

Finale (started with ver. 3.0) using 2012 (2014 has been shelved for its lack of support for older Garritan libraries), putting Finale 25 through its paces.

As a workaround, I use the expression for on and a hidden articulation for off, then a dashed multiline created as a shape expression.
