Posted By : thoener - 10/31/2016 2:16 PM | Hi,
when I use Simple Entry, enter a note and then hit Alt+Cursor Right (Mac, Sierra), Finale immediately crashes and requires to send a log report to Apple. Is there an official place where one can post this bug?
Thanks,
Best Raphael. |

What version of Finale?
FWIW, when I try, nothing happens. Alt-right arrow has no function, as far as I know. What are you trying to do? Finale v.25, 2012 MacMini; 2012 MacBook Pro (10.11.6) Edirol FA-66; Roland A-49, HP Laserjet 5200 DTN Ancient Groove Music www.ancientgroove.co.uk |

What do you want to achieve when you press Alt-right?
Command <right arrow> moves to the next measure. Shift <right arrow> moves the selected notehead up an octave. Finale v.25, 2012 MacMini; 2012 MacBook Pro (10.11.6) Edirol FA-66; Roland A-49, HP Laserjet 5200 DTN Ancient Groove Music www.ancientgroove.co.uk |
Posted By : CV186 - 10/31/2016 5:11 PM | I reported this bug here 4 days ago (in Speedy Entry). Opt-Right arrow is supposed to take you to the last entry in the measure. Opt-Left back to the first. This causes an immediate crash (in Speedy) on F25/Sierra. I got confirmation of the same behaviour from a User on the other "Community Discussion" page. So far MM has just suggested trashing Prefs, which (unsurprisingly) didn't help.
PS [edit]: After I told them about the other user they actually TESTED the key combination, and immediately confirmed it was a bug. Ah. I'm still running El Cap on my desktop rig. That would explain why it doesn't crash, but not why it doesn't do anything! Finale v.25, 2012 MacMini; 2012 MacBook Pro (10.11.6) Edirol FA-66; Roland A-49, HP Laserjet 5200 DTN Ancient Groove Music www.ancientgroove.co.uk |
Posted By : Mike Halloran - 11/1/2016 10:25 AM | It's a bug, as I was able to confirm and only affects 25/25.1, noe 2011c nor 2014.5.
"Major bug" — really? I reserve that term for something that renders a program unusable and this isn't one of them.
Hopefully, it will be fixed in the next release. Mike Halloran

Posted By : Greg A - 11/1/2016 2:37 PM | Hey guys, I can confirm that we can reproduce the issue as described in both Speedy and Simple. It is Sierra only and is a high priority to look at for 25.2 By default, that key combination is not assigned to any action in Simple Entry (but it will still crash with nothing assigned to it)
Just a reminder that we don't monitor these user forums in an official way and you should always submit crashes and other defects through the usual CS channels. I just saw this and thought I would let you know that we are on the case.
thanks Greg A. MakeMusic! QA |

So, why do we send crash reports then? Isn't that a CS channel (whatever that means)? Don't you guys monitor the actual crash reports, and see that a whole bunch of people running v.25 on Sierra crash when they hit that key in Simple? Christopher Smith
