I am from Mac side here, temporary on Windows 7.
Is it possible to assign F keys to the Tools (Articulation, Expression...)?

Yes.  Select the tool, e.g. the Articulation Tool.  Then press SHIFT-F(2-12).  This will program the chosen F key (no shift) to invoke the articulation tool.  These programmed F keys are document specific.

Note F1 is reserved for Help.
