I create a cautionary accidental using P. How do removed it?

One way is to erase it with the Simple Entry eraser.

I'm using 2012, but you can erase the cautionary accidental in speedy by placing the cursor on the note and pressing P. You don't have to have the crosshairs on the notehead.

Is it a bad memory, or do I remember older versions where the P key cycled accidental, accidental with parentheses, and accidental off?

Now it just parentheses on/off.

I use A in speedy (which toggles the cautionary on and off) because it won't remove a real accidental, whereas * will (very bad).

In Simple Entry, just press P a second time to remove the parenthesis. If you want to remove an unnecessary accidental altogether, Command shift Hyphen.

AHA! I couldn't get that shortcut to work, until I went through the Simple Entry Keyboard shortcuts. I had already reprogrammed Remove Courtesy Accidental to CTRL+P, keeping all those commands on the P key.
