Hi,
I have to out myself once more as a complete and utter ignoramus:

On Youtube there are sometimes videos with people playing the music in the background while you can watch the score.
In most cases there's a marker/pointer following the score ontime....
WANT IT!!!

How does this work? Is it a Finale feature or is it (I shudder to think) Sibelius??
If you can do similar things with Finale:
HOW?
Mind: I've got the technical understanding of a goldfish! :p

Thanks for bothering and putting up with my stupidity once again.
Edit: Still got 2009.

Jule

This subject has been discussed here before.  You can achieve what you want, but not within Finale alone.  Finale will scroll through playback, but you need an outside program that can capture to video what is playing on your screen, both the audio and video.  Many such programs exist, from freeware to commercial products.   I've not done it, but several have.  Perhaps they will chime in.

Here is one freeware source: http://camstudio.org/  freaked Triggers a virus alert, do not use.  Sorry!

Charles: When I tried to download the camstudio app, Norton stopped it, saying it was a malicious program. Just thought I'd mention it.

Thanks Ron,

You are right, my internet security intercepted that download as well.  Sorry.  I was just relaying what another user had posted some time earlier.

Try this one.  http://www.nchsoftware.com/capture/index.html  It has high reviews and it seemed to work OK for me when I tried it out.  A commercial version is also available.  Careful, be sure not to install any other crap/stuff when you install, unless you want to.

Is there a way in Finale to keep the green line fixed and have the music scroll by? I don't think the moving line that jumps when it gets to the end of the page would make a satisfactory video.

It still moves across the screen and then jumps.

A Finale-based solution for making videos with audio could be a pertinent feature request.
In the meantime, read Epeedad's step by step method in this thread forum.makemusic.com/default.aspx?f=5&m=453604&g=453622.

Thanks for the link, michelp.  I knew there was a recent thread on this subject, but I must have overlooked it.

Hi @all,
and thanks for your replies.....
I will try the suggestions (links) but-to be very, very honest- I'm considering switching to Sibelius....AFTER 26 YEARS OF FINALE.
Yes, I'm one of the very first users and will probably be the first to leave.
There is simply too much burocracy for me, i.e. ticking boxes, has always been.
Before making a final decision I'll give your suggestions a go.

Thanks again

Jule

Purchase the crossgrade to Sibelius. Learn both programs....no small feat, but worth the effort.
You, like myself may come to wish for the best of both.....a "Finbelius."

I am hoping that this is what the Steinberg project under Daniel's stewardship will most look like.
