This situation was driving me bonkers until I found this thread. I was trying to find where the Finale prefs are stored, resetting folder/file permissions etc. A bit of a silly bug to creep in.

Not really the most helpful response. The latest Finale Blog post is several days old but Apple has just released 10.11.1 which may provide a fix for Finale (as it has for Native Instruments etc)[i]...
