I am a trumpet player, and i resently borrowed a yamaha silent brass from a friend.  I figured out how to hook it up to my computer and i can record my self and all of that.  I was wondering if finale (03 i think) could transcribe what i am playing.  That might be a dumb question but I am not that fimilar with finale, besides the actuall writing music.  Thanks
Ben

Yes and no. Finale has something called "hyperscribe" which more or less writes down what you play, so long as you stick like glue to a metronome and get your note lengths, tuplets, etc., dead accurate.

Most people here do not use it: we spend our time with "speedy" or "simple" entry, both of which can use MIDI input (such as from your instrument) together with mouse and (QWERTY) keyboard commands.

BTW, this message should really have been posted in one of the notation forums (Windows or Mac as appropriate): this is where you'll get most advice on this sort of topic.
