My latest dilemma is creating a script that sets different page margins for left & right pages.  I am frustrated because I do what the FS documentation describes but the scripts do not respond correctly.  I am trying to set the left page left margin at .5 in and the left page right margin at .875 in.  For right pages these two numbers are reversed.  I cannot get the script to check "left only" or "right only" in the dialog box.  Some of my attempts (with experiments commented out) are copied below:

//Page Layout tool

//Left page

menu item "Page layout/Adjust left or right pages"

menu item "Page layout/Page margins/Edit Page margins"

Top page margin 0.5 in

Left page margin 0.5 in

Right page margin 0.875 in

Bottom page margin 0.5 in

Check "Left only"

//Uncheck "Page"

//Check "Top"

//tab 6

//Type 0.75 near "Top"

Can anybody help figure this out?

Is there any reason why loading in a Page Format library file won't help?

I've never tried that.  I'm working with files that were created originally in Finale 2003 & were published in a church hymnal two years ago.  Now I'm trying to take those same files & create instrumental arrangements.  I'll see if there's a way to do what you suggest.  Thanks for the idea.

Hi there FS professors ! :) I have an additional problem to this exact context.
Not all files start with the first page as the right page. Can FS somehow know that this file starts with the left page and this one with the right page?
