I am using the German version of Finale 2009 in Windows XP.
1.
How can I start a new text block in Finalescript? Normally you switch to the text tool and you click somewhere in the page. How is this done in Finalescript? I cannot find a way to position the cursor "somewhere" on the (left most) page so that I subsequently can use the "click" command. Is there any way of doing this.
2.
How can I insert text into an already open text block (with the cursor being positioned inside this block)? The Finalescript "type" command seems not to work in this case.

Guenter,

I anyone knows how to do this, he/she hasn't responded to inquiries of mine about the same thing.  I, too, could rally use a feature of this type.

Guenter & Randy,

There is an included script called “Add Book Style Page Numbers” that will illustrate how a text box can be added. It requires that the mouse cursor be over the page somewhere, so it makes sense to create shortcuts for these types of scripts. Also notice from that script that the positioning of the box can be set somewhere more specific after it is initially created somewhere. There is not a way though to control the location of the mouse cursor through Finalescript, which is why it must be done this way.

To edit an already existing text box would require a similar procedure where you assign a shortcut to the script and then execute it while your mouse is positioned over the text box you would like to edit.

Ryan,
thank you for your reply. But I still do not know how to get my own text in the text field. The following script should create a textbox with "1234" in it. But the Window "Textblock bearbeiten" stays empty. ("Textblock bearbeiten..." is the third last menu item in the text tool menu. I do not know the exact translation. Sorry. But the menu item is found ok, the type command does not work.)

double click
menu item "Textblock bearbeiten..."
type 1234
