I am beginning to build a script to set up all layers as I usually need them. For some reason line 4 doesn't work and I cannot see what is wrong. I have set up a test file (Default file copy) with all setting opposite to how I need them to test the effect of the clicks.

When I run:

//script to set all layers so that cues in L3 have stems up, Cues in L4 have stems down

Document Settings
list "Layers"
//Prepare settings for Layer 1
popup "Layer 1"
check "freeze stems and ties"
button "ok"

I get the DB, I get settings for layer 1, but then the button for "Freeze Stems and Ties" momentarily turns dark grey then light grey before ok is hit. The button will not turn blue with a tick.

Thanks

Similarly, when I extend the script:

//script to set all layers so that cues in L3 have stems up, Cuse in L4 have stems down

Document Settings
list "Layers"

//Prepare settings for Layer 1
popup "Layer 1"
check "freeze stems and ties"
popup "Up"
check "Freeze Ties"
uncheck "Hide Layer"
type 6 near "Steps"
check "Apply Adjustments"
check "Ignore Layers Containing"
uncheck "Ignore Hidden Layers"
check "Playback"
check "Affects Music Spacing"

button "ok"

the only item that works here is
type 6 near "Steps"

all other, as before grey the button but don't select it.

The line popup "Up"

selects the menu and opens it, but fails to change the selection from "Down" to "Up"

any ideas gratefully received

Peter,

I played around a little with the script to change the layer 1 settings to your specs. I set up a document with completely different settings for layer 1, then ran this script. This script works for me:

menu item "Document Options"
list "layers"
popup "Layer 1"
check "freeze stems and ties"
popup "Up"
check "Freeze Ties"
uncheck "Hide Layer"
type 6 near "Steps"
check "Apply Adjustments Only If Notes Are In Other Layers"
check "Ignore Layers Containing ONly Hidden Notes"
uncheck "Ignore Hidden Layers"
check "Playback"
check "Affects Music Spacing"
button "OK"

It's very close to what you had. I typed in the complete button name in a couple instances to be specific. I believe there is a wild card character * that you can use in situations like "Apply Adjustments Only *", so you don't have to type in the complete button name.

Hope this helps a little,
JT

Hi JT

thanks for that. I have tried various options, I even tried yours exactly as you have it and still it doesn't work. As I said in another post, I seem to get mouse down on the button and popup, but not mouse up

What I have now follows:
By doubling entries I get mouse down on the first "check" command and mouse up on the 2nd "check" command
All checkboxes now work this way. With only a single command I get a greying of the box as mouse down then nothing following works.
Popup menus open (first "popup" command) and close (2nd popup command) but don't select the required item

I have reinstalled Finale 2009 and updated to 2009c.
