I created a score and extracted parts in Finale which have both D.S. and Coda directives. Both the score and the individual parts play correctly in Finale however, when I save as a SmartMusic file, the first 8 or so measures (none of which is repeated) continuously loops. Any suggestions?

jbehean,

Welcome to the Forum!  The advice depends a lot on which version of Finale you are using.  Finale 2010 (and I believe 2009) has the ability to scan the repeats you have entered in the score and automatically create the needed SmartMusic markers.

The farther back you go in Finale history, the more manual the process becomes.  A lengthy discussion of how to create SmartMusic Marker Expressions can be found by searching for "SmartMusic Markers" in your Finale User manual.

For those of you want to compare the add repeat markers utility in the new Finale versions to the manual method, you can read the attached excerpt from the Finale 2010 manual.  I'll think you'll agree utility to add repeat markers saves a LOT of time.

Thanks,

Travis Shepard
