the GPO in finale 2006 sounds a lot better than the GM, but when I use say GPO violin and Save Special as GPOviolin.wav, the output GPOviolin.wav still sounds the GM violin instead of GPO violin, how can I make an output a GPO violin instead of GM violin?

I don't think that options is available yet.

When you "Save Special" and you are using GPO, you get a warning saying this feature isn't available yet. It also says that if you continue Softsynths will be sustituted for GPO.

Until the maintenance release fixes this, you will have to save as MIDI, and then import the MIDI into a sequencer or Synthfont to render as wav.

  Say guys,

Seeing this discussion about exporting files for recording onto cd has got the rusty wheels in brain whirring and thinking about what I do to achieve this in Allegro and in the future Finale.  I'm wondering if this will work in Finale: while playing in Finale, have Creative's Media Player "listen" (that is record in the mode 'WHAT YOU HEAR') which is converts .mus files into .wav files.  The .wav file is then recorded onto a cd.  I've had limited success with MIDI files, but much better with Creative's conversions.  What say you fellas about this approach?

Thanks,

Buddingnote

OR, If you have Cool Edit Pro, you can:

To play/record a piece from GPO Finale 2006 to Cool Edit Pro:

1. open up your Sound controls on your computer.

2. In the Sound Controls choose, File and the Properties.

3. Select Recording and make sure there is a check mark next to "Wave/MP3" and hit okay.

4. You must already have GPO sounds loaded into your Finale File.

5. While you have both Finale 2006 and Cool Edit Pro open, choose "File and then New.

6. Then hit the Record button in Cool Edit Pro and go back to Finale 2006 and hit Play. This will record it into Cool Edit Pro.

These are workarounds, of course. The power of direct to wav or mp3 is that you don't do it in real time, but it is rendered automatically, via a MIDI to wav conversion program. Until 2006 can do this with GPO, your only option is using the Finale soundfont for this quick rendering. Or, use the real-time workarounds. Save to MIDI and then converting in another program may work, but do you then have access to the GPO sounds, and all of its functions?
