I just bought ProTools and know nothing about it, so I'd like to figure this out so I can buy the right software: Does anyone know if I can use the Garritan sounds that come with Finale 2006 in ProTools (6.7)?

I don't think so. ProTools can use the full GPO when it's in RTAS format. But even then, ProTools hasn't worked as well as other sequencers when using GPO. Make sure you update PT to the latest version if at all possible. Finale GPO is AU instruments. I suppose if you can find a RTAS plugin that reads AU samples, that might work. I might be wrong, so please seek out other opinions.

How about in Sonar? Has anyone tried it? Or do I need to buy the full version of GPO or Kontact to make it work?

Any sequencer supporting AU (like SONAR or TRAKTION) can load Finale GPO.
